Complete story of Goddess Vaishno

People inside and outside India, is visiting the temple regularly that makes it, second most visited place in India.

Almost every Indian already knows what is the story of the goddess Vaishno Devi, but I will tell you something very much interesting, detailed and factual information about the goddess.
Many people claims the story that is being told to us is not from any scripture but the story very much exist in Vamna Purana, Chandi Upa purana. The Peeth is shakti peeth but has not been listed in 52 shakti peethas, though the peeth has been mentioned among 108 shakti peethas in Devi Bhagwat mahapurana.

There was a demon called “Mura”, He did hard penance of Brahma and took boon that no god or avatars can destroy me, also no married female can kill him. So this boon made the demon felt alike that he is strongest in three worlds. He captured all the 14 worlds except for Shiva and Vishnu Loka. There by Lakshmi at Vaikuntha got tensed about the situation that he can come to Vaikuntha any time. For the matter she went to secret adobe near trikut parbat, where vardaani haath of Goddess Sati fell, there she called panch prakriti of Vishnu as mentioned in Devi Bhagwat that are Lakshmi, Saraswati, Parvati (in the form of Kalika), Ganga and Gayatri. The four other goddesses joined their perspective powers on the clone of soul of Lakshmi as such, Saraswati gave her knowledge, Gayatri gave her mind, Ganga gave her emotions and Kalika gave her physical form. Kalika also cloned her vahan i.e. somnandi the tiger. The date on which the Goddess took birth is called Ekadash. Her appearance was similar to Durga or Parvati because she was her physical form though spiritually, she is more of connected to Goddess Lakshmi. Basically Vaishno Devi is spiritual expansion of Goddess Vashnavi (One of the Matrikas).

She was asked to guard Vaikuntha, where Lord Vishnu was in mystic sleep (Yog Nindra) and when Muru appeared then she killed the demon single handedly. Lord Vishnu awake up. He said oh goddess, you have done a great job. My mystic sleep is one of the tasks that help me to do my task of preservation and by killing the demon you not only freed the 14 worlds but also you keep dignity of mine for this ritual. He gave her the boon that she will be worshiped as Ikadashi devi and whole world will worship her for this deed. Goddess said I don’t want to be worshiped rather I want to merge myself with you as your shakti. Vishnu said ‘oh great goddess you have taken birth to take care of this world. You don’t need to request it, in reality you are my original shakti and will be regarded as “Vaishno” or Vaishnavi Durga, when you will complete the task of establishing the Vaishnavi Dharma, you will automatically merge with me.  Now, go to earth, King Ratnakar is great devotee of Goddess Durga/Parvati, he has been worshipping to have child like her. You have similar looks as her”. I will meet you there as Rama because both Jaya and Vijya has taken second birth and for their releasement, I have to take birth as Rama for their salvation.
Vaishnavi Durga - Vaishno Devi

NOTE: THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VAISHNO DEVI AND DURGA DEVI CAN BE ANALYZED THROUGH MUKUT (CROWN) OF BOTH BECAUSE DURGA WEARS HALF CRASCENT MOON AND VASHNO DEVI WEARS PEACOACK FEATHER LIKE KRISHNA AND NARAYNA.

Goddess took birth as Ratnakar’s daughter with the name “Trikuta”. From the childhood she was core devotee of Lord Vishnu. One day she heard the news of departure of Lord Rama to forests. She immediately went to face the exile and started worshiping the lord there. She went to banks and started worshiping and meditating on Lord Vishnu. While going to Lanka, Lord Rama heard the voice of “Om namaha narayana” and went to the place to meet her, on such he asked the goddess what she wants, she asked Rama to marry her. But Lord Rama said I can’t marry you because I am already married, but she said what about me. Lord said for a condition that upon killing the king Ravana I would definitely come to you, if you recognized me I would definitely merry you else you have to do what I will say. She promised to do so. Lord Rama came there in the guise of a priest, but she failed to recognize her.  On further insisting Lord Rama let her remember that she is not an ordinary woman, and said “O Devi, you are a great power of mine, I said you to establish the dharma and righteousness, I am not able to went north because of my limitation so I am sending you to north to spread the righteousness. Don’t forget to call Great Yogi Guru Gorakshnath for food as it will give a direction. Kindly, go to the cave where you have got this form. The same very cave which is one of the shakti peetha, The same very cave where Goddesses Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswati and Mahakali are there in the form of three masses (Pindi).
Guru Gorakhnath

Goddess went there and started meditating upon. One day, one of the biggest devotees of Durga i.e. Sridhar started worshiping her to get a child. For this, he fasted for nine days and he called nine girl children and but due to influence of his jealous brother’s wife, she put some irrelevant chemical because of which all the girl’s children fainted as such all mothers took their children back. Shridhar prayed to Goddess to help as such Goddess Vaishno called seven matrikas. Along with them, she assumed the forms of girl child and went to the kanya pujan of Shridhar. After completing the worship, she said Shridhar to perform “Bhandara”, it will give you what you desire and don’t forget to call Bhairavnath and Great Yogi and Great Guru Gorakhnath. Sridhar organized a Bhandara (Community meal) in which the whole village and Mahayogi Guru GorakshNathJi along with all his followers including Bhairavnath were invited as it was wish of Mata Vaishnodevi to invite MahaYogi Guru GorakshNathJi. Guru Gorakshnath visited a Bhandara along with more 300 disciples including the Bhairavnath. Bhairavnath was amazed by seeing the power of divine mother. He wanted to test her powers. For this, he asked Shiv Avatari Guru GorakshnathJi for his permission. Guru Gorakshnath said I do not recommend but still if you wanted to test, go ahead. Guru Gorakshnath and his all disciples enjoyed the pure vaishnav food and went off from there. Mahayogi Guru Gorakshnath accepted hospitality by only Mata Vaishnodevi since he follows a pure real vaishnav path. Bhairavnath stayed off to test her powers he attempted to grab Mata Vaishnodevi but she tried her best to daunt him. On failing to do so, Mata Vaishnodevi decided to flee away into the mountains to continue her Tapasaya undisturbed. BhairavNath however chased her to her destination.

NOTE: GURU GORAKSHNATH is the founder of Nath community. Lord Shiva incarnated Guru Gorakshnaath as a boon from Matsyendranath who later established Hath Yoga. Great Guru Gorakshnath was one of his important disciple and introduced Nath community. Bhairavnath was one of his senior followers. Gorakshnath considered the controversy between dualism and non-dualism spiritual theories in medieval India as useless from practice point of view, he emphasized that the choice is of the yogi, that the spiritual discipline and practice by either path leads to "perfectly illumined samadhi state of the individual phenomenal consciousness".

Bhairavnath was one of his senior followers though he still was not convinced with this theory of Guru Gorakshnath and did not accept any other method. So Guru Gorakshnath knew what will happen next. Mahayogi Guru Gorakshnath accepted hospitality by only Mata Vaishnodevi since he follows a pure real vaishnav panth.

The goddess after halting at (present day) Banganga, Charan Paduka, and Adhkwari, finally reached the holy cave Shrine. When Bhairon Nath continued to follow her despite the goddess trying to avoid a confrontation, the goddess was compelled to kill him. Bhairon Nath met his ultimate fate when the goddess, just outside the mouth of the cave asummed to form of Goddess Kali, She beheaded him. The severed head of Bhairon fell with force on a distant hilltop. Bhairon Nath upon his death realised the futility of his mission and prayed to the deity to forgive him. The almighty Mata (Mother Goddess) had mercy on Bhairon and gave him a boon that every devotee of the goddess would have to have the Darshans of Bhairon after having the Darshans of the Goddess and only then would the yatra of a devotee be complete. Meanwhile, Vaishnavi decided to shed off her human form and assuming the face of a rock she immersed herself into meditation forever. Thus Vaishnavi, in the form of a five-and-a-half-foot-tall rock with three heads or the Pindies on the top is the ultimate destination of a devotee. These Pindies constitute the Sanctum Sanctorum of the holy cave known as the shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji, which is revered by one and all.
